- Stop 1 – Spiritual Welcome to Cotopaxi Outside the entrance to Cotopaxi National Park, begin with an optional coca tea (extra cost). A native guide greets you with ceremonial chants, asking permission from the Pachamama to enter. A heartfelt Andean tradition.
- Stop 2 – At the Foot of Cotopaxi We head to the base of Cotopaxi for a traditional Andean dance with native music. What is Cotopaxi? One of the highest active volcanoes in the world, considered a sacred guardian of the Andes. It rises 5897 m above sea level and forms part of the Cotopaxi National Park, known for its diverse ecosystems.
- Stop 3 – Limpiopungo Lagoon Walk A calm high-altitude walk perfect for solo travelers, couples, and families. Discover unique páramo wildlife, including foxes, wolves, wild horses, the spectacled bear, and the Andean condor.
- Stop 4 – Quilotoa Lagoon and Viewpoint Enjoy breathtaking views of the crater lake from a cozy restaurant. Relax with homemade empanadas and a warm drink as you admire the shifting emerald tones of the lagoon. What is Quilotoa? A volcanic crater lake formed over 800 years ago, famous for its surreal color variations and dramatic rim.
- Stop 5 – Crater Rim Walk After your break, walk along the crater rim, stopping for photos at natural viewpoints and optional paid lookout points.
- As the sun begins to set, we return to Quito and drop you off at your preferred location.
- Both Cotopaxi and Quilotoa offer unforgettable landscapes, deep cultural meaning, and a journey through Ecuador’s volcanic highlands.
